The Nexus vs 1 Billion B1 Battledroids

Just playing around with combat scenarios for war between Earth and Nexus. Scenario in this case being Earth invades Nexus with absurd amount of cheap infantry droids. Assume Earth opens a sustainable portal in the academy and is able to march in 20,000,000 droids per 24 hours of continuous marching. Assume all relevant supporting forces are there to maintain logistics, including command driods for command, tactical, and super tactical driods for CNC. Assume all technology is a reasonable GUN equivalent, i.e they don't literally have to be made of durasteel and using blasters. Assume they speak the local languages so the Nexians are subjected to the delightful B1 personality.

How far do they get? Do the Crownlands get Roger-Rogered? Will Thamlin earn the c-word pass?

Neat idea: Emma making a compound bow

Thanks to sportsmen, bow technology sits in a rather unique position of being both very mature, very innovative, and simultaneously, very dead end. And considering how much mankind loves bows I could easily see the same being true 1000 years in the future. Which means if she makes one, she can use it as a stage for Earthrealm to legitimately flex it's engineering muscles, and as long as the material science is kept secret, e.g how things like carbon fiber is made, it's not giving away any useful information to the Nexus like guns would. A few reasons I think it would be a good idea to make a compound bow, particularly collaborating with Sorecar to make an enchanted one.

  1. Bows are similar to the Nexus, so Emma can brag about it more openly than other technologies
  2. It would be an opportunity for Emma to gain some experience and data on magi-tech; the mastery of which will be the deciding factor on who out of the Nexus and GUN emerges dominant
  3. It would fill the niche for Emma of "weapon she can use publicly to deal with low level threats without causing an existential crisis to onlookers"
  4. It would be a proving ground of the concept of improving enchanted weapons not with better magic, but with a better canvas to put enchantments on. A notable paradigm shift, but not overly threatening to the current order considering the improvement compound bows represent over what mana-less bows would be available in the Nexus wouldn't be that large. It would be something that could win Earthrealm prestige and allies.
  5. If it goes well enough, compound bows could be sold like the pens

What other simple Earth items could Emma sell?

I made a post about AK-47s last week, but that is a bad idea for a number of reasons. But if Emma is going to be selling simple, comparative cheap, and helpful items, then there are likely other items she could get into.

  1. Calculators. Similar deal with pens. Solar powered ones don't need much in terms of charging or swapping batteries either.
  2. Binoculars. Adventuring parties would do well with them.

If they are willing to deal with batteries, and potentially more risk of attention, they could also do things like:

  1. Flash lights
  2. Two way radios
  3. Electric power tools (chainsaws, law mowers, drills, angle grinder, etc)
  4. Stick welders

What if Emma just said "fuck it" and started selling AK-47s?

I'm sure we've all had this thought at one point or another.

Realistically, there's a lot of reasons not to do this of course, one big one being it would get governments on both sides of the portal pissed off at Emma. Another being that imo what's going to determine who out of Nexus vs GUN is going to emerge dominant is going to come down to who can best master magi-tech, i.e the fusion of GUN technology and magic. So giving the elves easy access to Earth weapons is a bad idea, even 1000 year old shit, as enchantment could make their capabilities jump by leaps and bounds.

But ignoring all that for the sake of fun, Kalashnikovs...

Next chapter I think we're getting into Emma pitching an idea to sell pens to Etholin. Though there are some things the next chapter will have to clear up, such as how she plans on manufacturing them, if she plans on selling other Earth goods, if she plans on making money by sales, or by franchising/selling licensing to Etholin. And the size of the market she's planning on selling to, since I don't think the Nexus has a particularly high literacy rate among those who don't have a magical solution to writing implements.

Rifles of course would have an advantage on that last point, since everyone likes weapons. Pretty easy to imagine severely undercutting magical alternatives with a lump of manaless steel and wood furniture. Especially if the Kalashnikovs were priced as a loss leader for selling ammunition, or just generating interest in Earthrealm goods. A nice budget option for adventuring parties, small time militias, or even peasants wanting to defend their homes. Nothing compared to the best enchanted weapons of course. But enough to hang with other budget, or even mid range options which would be insane for a mundane weapon at such a low price point.

It would also be cool to see the reaction of Thamlin (he's seen guns, but hasn't got to shoot one yet), as well as Etholin and Professors Sorecar, Chiska, and Articord to getting to handle guns.

Besides, it gives Emma the opportunity for some aura farming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaWOvVQC4ns
