My daughter and her friends were out for a meal in Glasgow last night and got the train home from central, while on the train another passenger noticed this creature sneakily taking pictures of my daughter and her friends, aged 16 & 17 btw! Why anyone thinks this is acceptable is beyond me 6g a grown "man" old enough to be her grandparent btw! invading a young girls privacy! disgusting
Cant thank the other passengers who intervened & stood up for the girls enough, one guy even got off at the stop before them and got his wife to drive him up to their stop to check they were ok e 1 vile scumbag outnumbered by decent human beings!
Thank you all so much, you guys could have helped prevent something much worse from happening
Scotrail on the other hand really should prioritise incidents.Thats another story!!
Taking this as a lesson to always be aware of their surroundings, you just never know which creep you could be sitting beside

"An annual Edinburgh taxi charity outing is expected to go ahead after a meeting between organisers and police.

The event, which sees black cab drivers take children with special needs, life-limiting conditions and terminal illnesses for a day out in East Lothian, was facing cancellation due to a police policy change.

Just weeks before the June 9 event, organisers said it would not go ahead due to the change, which would mean officers were unable to escort the cabs.

However, on Wednesday, Police Scotland said the event will now go ahead on its original route, as planned, with support from officers, following “constructive discussions”.

“Our focus throughout has been to support the Edinburgh Taxi Outing as we have done for many years”, superintendent Neil Wilson said.

“We have held constructive discussions today with the event organiser and have agreed an outline plan which allows the event to run safely on its original route.

“Further discussions will take place in the coming days to finalise the police operation to support the event and ensure the children enjoy their day.”

The event, a staple of the Edinburgh calendar for almost 80 years, sees passengers in cabs equipped with water guns, which they use to spray water at the many people lining the route of the outing.

Officers had previously offered to support the event in a few key places.

However, taxi outing chief secretary Keith Bell said the taxis would need to sit in general traffic for the rest of the route, stopping at red lights, junctions, and in general congestion within Edinburgh, frustrating the children.

Mr Bell confirmed a “workable solution” was found during the meetings with Police Scotland.

“A short while ago, I had a meeting with assistant chief constable Waddell and other officers with responsibility for policing within Edinburgh”, he said on Wednesday.

“We had an open and frank discussion about the recent events regarding this year‘s Edinburgh Taxi Outing.

“I’m pleased to say that we appear to have found a workable solution to allow this year‘s event to go ahead.

“We are having another planning meeting on Thursday, and I am hopeful that following that meeting, we will be able to finalise a plan that allows the event to take place on June 9, which will be great news for the children and families involved.

“I would like to thank everyone who contacted the Police, their MP, their MSPs and others and the Outing Committee is deeply humbled by the love and support that has been shown by so many towards the Outing.”

Edinburgh councillors called an emergency meeting on Wednesday to allow the annual outing to go ahead.

Council leader Jane Meagher said she was on the phone in the late hours of the evening with Edinburgh’s top officer and the council’s head exec working to find a solution.

Council Leader Jane Meagher said: “I’m overjoyed and relieved that the Edinburgh Taxi Outing can go ahead as planned this year. I want to pay particular tribute to our colleagues in the Council’s transport and roads teams for finding a way to make this work. They really have gone above and beyond.

“I know how valued and important this event is to families across the city and look forward to seeing the wonderful sight of brightly decorated taxis on our streets once again – in what I’m sure will be another fun-filled and memorable day out.”

Alana Wilson, whose nine-year-old son, George, has non-verbal autism, ADHD, and complex learning disabilities, had pleaded for the event to go ahead.

“I think if anybody has got it in their heart, if there is anything you can do to change it, change it. It’s not even a whole day; it’s a few hours”, she told STV News.

“We’re not asking for much; we’re asking for our kids to continue to have this. It’s been going for years. It’s something that’s been here in Edinburgh, you can’t just take that away.”

"A young woman told a jury she was approached in the street by a Syrian refugee from an asylum seeker hotel as she walked back from a nightclub.

The woman, 21, said that after she left the XOXO club in Falkirk, her route to a friend’s took her across a skate park.

Before she got there, she came across the man, whom she did not know, who was on his phone.

Jurors heard it is agreed that the man was Muhammad Sheikhi, described as a refugee resident at the Cladhan Hotel in Falkirk at the time.

Describing a 34-minute encounter, the woman said she was left barefoot after Sheikhi broke her shoes.

Sheikhi, 23, denies sexually assaulting the woman with the intent to rape her in Kerse Lane, Falkirk, and at the nearby Bellsmeadow skate park.

He also denies sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman under a railway bridge, also on Kerse Lane, not far from the Cladhan.

Both incidents are said to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard that during the day on Saturday November 29, 2025, there had been protests at the Cladhan Hotel in the town, which was being used to house asylum seekers.

The woman whose shoes were taken off said she passed Sheikhi on Kerse Lane about 2.40am.

She said that as she did so, Sheikhi “shoved his phone in my face saying ‘Snapchat'”.

She said she realised Sheikhi – who was speaking a foreign language and using his phone to translate – wanted her to add him on the messaging app.

She said: “I was confused. I was laughing at him because I thought he was joking at first.

“He kind of touched my feet. He was being weird about my shoes.”

She said she continued down Kerse Lane, and the man then took her shoes.

She said: “I was wearing strappy high heels. He had to unbuckle them, then unstrap them from around my ankle.

“He actually broke my shoes.”

The woman agreed that Sheikhi gave her his own shoes, and walked on in his socks.

The woman said she was “really weirded out”, so she video-called a friend, who screen-recorded part of the alleged incident.

The blurry 30-second clip was shown to the jury.

The woman said she told Sheikhi she was going to walk away from him, but he kept following her, and must have run to catch up with her, because when she began to walk down a grassy area towards the skate park, she realised he was right behind her.

She said: “He grabbed me by the shoulder to try and turn me round to face him, then pushed me up against a tree.”

Prosecutor Jamie Hillend asked: “How were you feeling?”

Sobbing, she replied: “Terrified.”

She told the jury Sheikhi “stuck his hand up my skirt and under my dress”.

“I was just shouting at him to stop, and I was crying.”

She said the man did not stop, but she managed to push his shoulder to get away and ran barefoot to her friend’s house on the other side of the park.

When she got to the house and woke him up by “pounding” on the door, it turned out that her friend, aged 19, had lost his keys and he could not open it.

The woman said she was “hysterical”, so her friend held her hand through the letterbox.

She gave her friend her mother’s number, and the friend phoned her mum, who set off to get her – a ten-minute journey.

She said Sheikhi was still standing nearby, watching her.

Eventually, she walked to the end of her friend’s driveway and sat on the pavement to wait.

Sheikhi sat down next to her and again put his own socks and shoes on her.

She said: “I kept taking them off because I thought that was actually disgusting, and I think he put them on me twice.

“I kept shouting at him and crying.”

She said she had repeatedly told Sheikhi to leave her.

She said Sheikhi, through a translation app, kept saying something about “going back to his” then her mother arrived.

The woman said when that happened, “I’ve never seen anyone move so fast. He [Sheikhi] literally sprinted back towards the park”.

The next day, she was told that CID were looking for her.

A photograph taken by police of bruising, which the woman said was caused when her alleged attacker spun her round, was shown to the jury.

The woman added that her feet were left sore from walking on rocky ground.

Paul Keenan, advocate, defending, told the woman that Sheikhi did not accept that anything sexual had happened and did not accept that he had forcibly removed her shoes.

Mr Keenan said: “His intention was simply to make sure you got home safely."

“There was no sexual touching of your body over or under your clothing at any point.”

The woman denied this and said there was.

Jurors were shown a Ring doorbell video of the woman begging for her shoes back.

Sobbing, she tells Sheikhi loudly: “I want my shoes. Please give me my shoes. I want my shoes. Please stop touching me.”

Earlier, the court heard that in the early hours of the same morning, Sheikhi approached a 22-year-old woman on Kerse Lane, as she was walking back from another nightclub.

The woman said Sheikhi said “Arabic”, signalling that he spoke a different language, and told her he was staying at the Cladhan.

The woman told the jury: “It’s a hotel that is used for asylum seekers. There’s a lot of stigma about that hotel.

“I told him, ‘I’ve got nothing wrong with you being here’.

“I was scared, I wanted to say something nice so nothing would happen.

“At this point, he leaned in and hugged me. He kissed my left cheek, the right cheek and the lips. It was all very fast.”

She said, Sheikhi then put his hand under her clothing.

She said: “I jumped back and said ‘No’.”

Asked how she felt, the woman replied: “Really scared, a bit like violated.”

The trial, before Sheriff Keith O’Mahony, continues."

"A former pet shop owner carried out a series of sex crimes against women and children at his business.

Paul Patrick attacked some of his victims at the premises of Pawz N Klawz Pet Supplies in Aboyne, in Aberdeenshire.

The 61-year-old preyed on two women and four girls between 2006 and 2023.

Patrick had denied a series of charges at an earlier trial but was convicted of 19 offences, including two rapes and five sexual assaults. 

He was also found guilty of lewd behaviour, indecent communications and breaching bail.

The judge imposed an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR) and ordered that he must serve eight and a half years’ imprisonment before he is eligible to seek release.

Former company director Patrick’s first victim was a girl aged 12 when he first started abusing her at various locations, including Golspie, Sutherland, Banff and elsewhere.

A second girl was subjected to sexual remarks by him at the pet shop premises on several occasions when she was at the pet shop between November 2002 and November 2010.

He sexually assaulted a woman at the business and directed sexualised comments to her at the shop before exposing himself and raping the woman in November 2013.

Another girl was sent a sexual image and messages by him in Aberdeen. In November 2021, he attacked and raped a 14-year-old girl at the business premises.

In June 2023, he sexually assaulted a woman in Aboyne.

Patrick, who followed the sentencing proceedings via a TV link to HMP Grampian, was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

Lord Stuart made non harassment orders banning Patrick from contacting or attempting to contact victims.

A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told him: “Your actions have caused severe psychological and emotional harm.”

Lord Stuart said: “One of the complainers was 14 years old and particularly vulnerable when you raped and sexually assaulted her.”

The court heard that an expert who prepared a detailed report on Patrick considered that he has an anti-social, narcissistic, psychopathic disorder and posed a high risk.

Detective inspector Kerry McCombie, of the North East Division’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Patrick believed he was above the law, carrying out a sustained pattern of abuse over many years, but he will now faces the consequences of his despicable actions.

“I want to recognise the strength shown by the victims in coming forward and supporting the investigation. I hope this outcome provides them with some sense of justice and reassurance.

“Police Scotland remains committed to supporting victims of sexual abuse and brining perpetrators to justice, no matter how much time has passed.

“I would encourage anyone who has experienced or experiencing abuse to report it. You will be listened to and supported.”
