I’m planning a solo workation somewhere in India around late September to end of October, would love recommendations from people who’ve actually done this.
I’m looking for a non touristy place but with possibility to socialize, that’s safe and comfortable for a solo female traveller, good for working remotely, reliable Wi-Fi and preferably decent cafes or spaces where I can work nearby, peaceful enough to actually get some work done, options to explore after work and on weekends. Ideally somewhere I can stay for 1 to 3 weeks without spending a ridiculous amount.
I’m open to beaches, mountains, smaller towns, or somewhere a little offbeat. I live in Karnataka and have travelled extensively, so preferably outside Karnataka would be great. I’d especially love to hear about places you’ve personally stayed in rather than looking into generic “top 10 workation destinations” lists.

Where would you go for a solo workation in India, and why?

Growing up in Hubli in the late 90s, my Sundays typically used to be to jog with a few friends from the neighbourhood all the way from my home to Indira Gandhi Glasshouse which was easily 5 kms away - spend some time around the skating rink which looked massive then, I didn’t train there regularly but just watching other kids fall was fun 🙈 After all this my friends used to head home and I’d go the this isolated public library at the fag end of the premises, hardly one or 2 men inside that building (mind you, alone - I wouldn’t do that today ) - it was huge ( or at least felt like it then) and they had a great collection even for me as a kid. I’m sure I never tried looking for something serious then, but I wonder what happened to that library? I can’t find it on google maps - so it probably became a govt office or is in ruins.

If it still exists I’d like to explore it the next time I’m there.
