17 yo getting into dentistry
Hi everyone,
I'm a junior in high school in Michigan and I have been thinking about becoming a dentist in the future. I've been looking into becoming a dental assistant first to get experience before college. I play a sport pretty seriously and I’m looking to play in college. I am dedicated to whatever I do and I’m a big people person.
I had a few questions and would really appreciate advice from anyone in the field:
- Do dental offices in Michigan actually hire 17-year-olds as assistants, or is it usually 18+ only? Also is there any way to get training for a job like this at my age?
- I've also been looking at in the future becoming a military dentist for 4 years so that | don't have student loans and also I would get pretty good benefits. Is this a good option? Are there any downsides?
- Any advice for getting experience early while still in high school?
Thanks in advance
