So I randomly heard a song by the (Dixie) Chicks that had me listening to their Fly album that I hadn't heard in forever. Anyway I heard the Goodbye Earl song and it has me craving a book that could have a similar plot.

For those who don't know the song, it is about best friends from a small town, one moves away, one stays and only find "Earl" marries him, he's a P.O.S. abuses her, she divorces gets restraining order, he breaks it and puts her in hospital and best friend flies back on a red eye and they make a plan that "Earl has to die" basically kill him, cops come by to "look" for him and tell them that if they here from Earl let them know but otherwise nobody cares he's gone and it's happily ever after.

The song is about girl bff's, but I basically want a MMC who protects FMC from shit situation, and they both plot revenge in some way against the P.O.S.

The song is actually really funny given what it's about so bonus points if it has humor and isn't super dark/sad. Also doesn't need to be cowboy theme or anything I'm ok with a wider variety there.

Extra bonus points and sprinkles if MMC and FMC aren't even friends to begin with and are more enemies to lovers cause I'm a sucker for this trope.

This community is always so great at helping find really specific requests so I'm hoping someone can help a girl out!

This will be a slight spoiler so for those who haven't read this book or the Honeywood series of stand alone then don't read this but

I get that the realization he had after seeing his dad, that he didn't want to wait forever for Ruby like his mom did for his Dad, but seriously how much time passed from that day to the roller coaster incident?!?!<

&gt;!Cause he said that night of accident he wanted to tell her something and then a little while after at hospital Jolene came around as his girlfriend, which means that's likely what he wanted to talk about the night if the accident...Like I'm sorry I get not wanting to wait around forever for Ruby to decide but it feels like he just waited a Day before he was like fuck it Jolene seems opposite and I need that. I haven't finished book, but I'm just so mad lol which is dumb cause not real.!<

&gt;!But 3 books and all the background of their interactions from when they were seven building up, he knows Ruby's family history and her view on relationships, he can't give her a little bit of time. They are supposed to be the ultimate BFFs... Like I get not waiting forever but y'all didn't even talk to confirm with her it's a No. He just moved on, no communication on it after "giving her some time" like it hasn't been a year, six months, three months, like zero time passed. And for someone you've "loved since 12" that just seems way too fast to just move on and not even talk about it once more for confirmation... And also the fact that Jolene is a red head after he told Ruby she was the only red head for him night if sex, it's just all ick to me, like not a BFF or not someone who really loves Ruby!<

Did anyone else feel like this reading this story or is it just me being crazy? Let a girl know y'all, cause half of me womders if I should DNF list and move on.
