How do you decide it’s time to give up and move to another hobby?
I live in a rural area, about 3 hours from the closest competitive chorus.
Before you tell me to just start a chorus in my own area, it’s been tried more than once and it has failed each time.
I used to do the drive each week but it’s just too far with working all week. The closest community focused chorus is a minimum of 2 hours away. I am not cut out for that type of chorus.
I have been in a competitive quartet but being so far away has its challenges and we parted ways after International last year. I have not been able to find another group that wants to focus on contest with a long distance member.
I’ve sung barbershop for almost 20 years, it’s been my main hobby but I’m increasingly discouraged by the lack of options. I don’t have a lot of other hobbies since this one takes up so much time. I love singing but you can’t do this by yourself and I feel like maybe it’s time to just give up.
