Chances of Being Hired?

Hello! I’ve been working in the aerospace and defense industry for about two years. The company I work for supplies materials to Lockheed, so I’m already familiar with many of their processes and standards. My experience includes contract coordination, vendor management, administrative responsibilities, and supporting day-to-day operational functions.

I’ve been actively applying for opportunities for over a year and, despite many rejections, I recently attended a hiring event that was primarily intended for STEM candidates. During the event, a manager from Supply Chain approached me because her department was hiring. She conducted a brief interview, reviewed my resume, and mentioned that I had an advantage since we were able to connect directly. She also recommended specific positions for me to apply to, which I did immediately. Afterward, I followed up to thank her for her time. She encouraged me to keep her updated and to persevere, mentioning that hiring decisions are being made every day. I was a little confused because I thought she may be the one to push me forward.

Additionally, I spoke with an HR Business Partner at the event who asked me to send her my resume. About a week later, she responded saying it was a pleasure meeting me and that she had forwarded my resume to her colleague in Talent Acquisition for review.

Since then, I’ve continued applying for relevant positions and have also kept the initial Supply Chain contact informed about the roles I’ve submitted applications for.
