Costco Bundle NVS16-12MD8

Was very excited to get a deal on this bundle. Research about setting the cameras up with a PoE switch and then run one cable to my router and one cable from the NVR to the router. Went through all the steps of assigning static IP addresses to everything. I did get the caneras to show up in the app when the NVR was off, and briefly the cameras were able to be added to the NVR. Seemed like it was going to work but no go. If I had read the FAQ I would have known these cameras cannot function as standalone cameras. So my question is... can I still run them through a PoE switch or do they each have to have the cable go directly to the NVR?
