Advice for Travel to Lebanon

Hey everyone! Hope your day is going well. I’m posting here to try and get some information on what to get my Calculus professor for his travel to Lebanon.
So my Calculus Professor (US) and I have become friend over my time in college. He is originally from Lebanon, we don’t talk about it much as things are weird when it comes to it. He had stated that he is traveling to Lebanon over the summer break. I didn’t ask any questions like the region, etc. I’m assuming he is visiting family. It’s highly advised not to travel there etc etc. but he seems determined regardless.
I’m looking for some advice on what I can get him to help keep him safe. I looked at sat phones but it seems to be tricky when importing them, he would have to register it, get a letter from consulate etc. I’m going to mention it to him.
I thought about getting him an FLIR patch like we used in the army but then again this may be stupid as hell. Paint him as a target etc.
I looked into starlink but I’m unsure on how it works, am going to research the portable model more.
Hoping that someone has some suggestions to help keep my very intelligent friend safe in his journey. Something that says “hey I’m American don’t drop a bomb on me” but also “hey I’m Lebanese, don’t kidnap me Hezbollah.”
