I messed up really bad with course registration
(In short, I’m an incoming undergrad and ubc messed up my program, and I messed up my course registration so right now I’m enrolled in 2 courses for term 1, and one for term 2. I need help and advice)
Hey guys, I’m an incoming first year UBC Science student and I’m really lost with course registration and hoping someone can help me understand what I’m doing wrong or what I should fix first. I didn’t really receive a email abt my registration appointment (probably got accidentally deleted), only something about the course bundle thing. At the time I didn’t fully understand what it was for and I don’t have parents or older siblings who have gone through university, so I’ve basically been trying to figure everything out on my own. Since I didn’t see the email, I missed my registration appointment, and as a result I was only placed into the courses I selected in the course bundle.
Now I realize those courses seem to be mainly for Applied Biology requirements. I originally accepted an offer for Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology, but later I declined that and accepted Bachelor of Science (General) months ago. I thought that change was processed, but my Workday still seems to reflect Applied Biology which has added to my confusion.Because of all of this, I’ve been trying to adjust my schedule, but I keep running into issues;some courses are missing from my schedule, some sections are waitlisted, and some won’t let me register due to errors, especially with sections not being selectable even when they show as open.
Right now I’ve only been able to successfully register in two courses for Term 1 and one course for Term 2. The rest are either waitlisted or I’m unable to add them. My current Term 1 includes Biology and a neuroscience related course, but I’m not even fully sure if I’ve set everything up correctly. For Term 2 I only have Science Seminar registered.
My goal is to eventually specialize in Neuroscience in second year, but right now I just feel really confused and scared. I already emailed my advisor (no response yet) and I’m gonna try calling them soon, but please give me advice.
