Game career. Start EU Master's this year OR take a 6-month job in EU and delay studies to 2027?
I am a 29 yo Game Artist with 5 years of experience working in Asia. My ultimate career goal is to permanently relocate and settle in the EU, specifically targeting the Netherlands, Germany, or Sweden.
I am currently applying for Master's programs in the Netherlands and Germany to start this year. However, I unexpectedly received an offer for a 6-month (or more) work assignment in France, return back to the country after the assignment end.
This leaves me with two paths:
- Option 1: Decline the job and study now
- Proceed with the Master's program in NL/GER this year.
- Complete the 1-2 year degree, then utilize the 1-year post-graduation orientation visa to find a full-time job and secure residency.
- Option 2: Take the France job and delay studies
- Work in France for 6 months. This is a strong career opportunity that adds direct European work experience to my resume.
- Delay my Master's enrollment until September 2027.
- The drawback: This pushes my entire timeline back. I would be 31 or 32 by the time I graduate and begin looking for a permanent job to sponsor my long-term stay.
Which path should I choose?
Any insights on which path makes more strategic sense for long-term settlement would be appreciated.
