Knob Creek Shelf

Knob Creek Shelf

While solid, I wouldn’t say I’m a fanboy of KC overall. Way overpaid for the older 14 year SP a few years back and was pretty let down by it. Glad to see the 12s are back to being regular shelfers around me and the secondary for the 15 and 18 has all but disappeared. Need to try the 21 again at some point.

When taking value into account, I think JD has to be the best distillery out there. The shelfer SBBP bourbon and rye are the best shelters out there IMO, and the are consistently bangers without an insane upcharge like most other distilleries.

Barrell Shelf

Barrell makes some great products. I wouldn’t say they’re underrated per se, but in today’s crowded whiskey market they’ve kind of been forgotten.

Their new cigar blend from this year is probably my second favorite cigar blend I’ve tried after Joseph Magnus. The Gold Seagrass is a super funky unique pour unlike anything else I’ve ever had. Only product I’ve had from them that I wasn’t a huge fan of is the Dovetail.

Heaven Hill LE Shelf

The two OF BiBs are phenomenal, especially considering the proof. Only other one that I’ve had that comes close is the 16 VVS.

The heritage collection are all great - but at that price point I would generally prefer a GTS over these. The 90th anniversary is sneaky good for its price though.

The two Parker’s ryes - meh. They’re great, but no where near as good as their price would seem to infer. The DBB I’ve only had a sample of, and thought it was excellent.
