I just got my hands on the Hiya Heat Ray 2000 and 2001, and honestly they’re pretty good.

First I want to talk about GMK. This is a massive step up from the last GMK. The paint is way more consistent and honestly is fantastically applied. While I do find the blue paint on the dorsals to be a little sloppy in some areas, it’s mostly solid and the translucent effect is integrated fantastically. Now one giant issue that I’ve been seeing is kinda common is the fact that its head can’t move whatsoever. I can get it to swivel but that’s about it. It definitely is a concern and if anyone has any sort of remedy that can help solve this issue, please let me know.

Now I want to talk about 2000. While I don’t think it’s better than the previous Mire, it’s still solid. The articulation and sculpt is exactly the same from the previous release and I honestly like the shade of green they used here better than the first release. Now I want to talk about the heat ray paint… oh boy. It’s really sloppy. I think one thing that’s very hit or miss with heat ray figures is translating that light irradiating off the dorsals on to the skin. One fig that I think does this really good is the SHMA Minus One Heat ray fig, which incorporates this light effect really well imo, and one thing it avoids it getting that glow on to joints on the arms and legs. Here it was like Hiya slapped some orange paint right on the back and called it a day. It seeps on to the shoulders and thighs, which when moved looks really awkward and different positions. To a point it becomes difficult to look at, but that’s just me, and if u aren’t as picky as I am, I think you’ll really love this figure. Now I do want to talk about one thing, if you look at the seventh picture it shows one of the dorsals on the lower back that has a white seam line, I had to glue that on. It was just broken off in the box. I have no idea if this was a fault on shipping or what but it’s just something to look out for if u get it.

Overall I really enjoy this two figures and find them to be really nice pieces on the shelf. But what about you guys? How to you feel about them? I’m seeing overall positive responses but have also been seeing people talk about how these might be the most poor qc ridden figures in the line, so I wanna hear some thoughts.
