Do you/did you have a guy in your country building some massive structure by himself in some isolated location?

The Castelo Ze dos Montes was made by a man who had a vision of the Virgin Mary as a child instructing him to build it. When he retired in the 1980s he decided to actually do it, and spend the rest of his life working on it mostly by himself, with his own hands, until his death in 2020
