Road Noise Concerns
I recently purchased a used 2024 VW ID.4 Pro S and so far I've been loving it. However, the road noise at highway speeds I've noticed seems louder than I expected. Certainly louder than the Nissan LEAF that it replaced. Digging through Reddit/YouTube posts have suggested I should be experiencing 65-70dB at highway speeds, so I took some measurements of my own and found mine is way noisier than that.
- Idle/stop-and-go traffic: 75dB
- Highway 65mph: 85dB
- Highway 80mph: 95dB
- Highway Driving over Bridge: 100dB
These are all roughly average readings with AC turned off to limit any extra variables. Granted, I bought a cheap dB meter from Amazon (with good reviews) so I don't take these readings as gospel but something still seems off.
I still have the original tires that the car came with brand new, which I know aren't fantastic, so I recognize that may be contributing. But even accounting for that it still seems too loud. Is this just a take it to the dealer situation or has anyone encountered something similar and has advice?
