Hey all,

In a few years I would like to plan to apply for my CSL but I am taking a rather unorthodox route.

Firstly, I am constructing and self funding an ADU at my residence. I have a licensed GC who pulled permits and is guiding me a little, but I am doing 100% of the work for creating plans, applying for permits, scheduling/working with subs, scheduling/meeting with inspectors, etc. The GC is willing to attest for me that I have been doing all of this, so I am wondering if I can make this count as 1 year of work experience?

Also, Massachusetts CSL Handbook has exceptions for education experience.

1 year for any degree, and 2 years for a degree in "architecture or science, engineering, or technology in a related field" but this seems rather broad.

MS in Construction Management & Technology seems easier than an engineering degree but would this meet the requirement? It seems to be "construction technology" related, but it is also a management degree.

Who could I contact to confirm any of this?

This story happened a while ago at my old job, I was actually pretty young, but it's something that still sticks to me to this day.

One day, an older women came into the shop explaining that her son, who was around 40, died in a car accident and left his two laptops hoping to backup any important data.

One laptop seemed to be used mostly by his daughter, having roblox and other family photos, but the other laptop was personal to him.

The second laptop contained not a lot but a decent number of porn videos in the downloads folder. When going through the pictures/video folders, I found some "home movies" made by him and his wife.

We eventually backed up everything that wasn't porn related to a flash drive. We did have to legally/morally inform the mother that there was some "embarrassing" data we didn't back up but she was understanding.

Just such a bizare situation that sticks to me to this day. Moral of the story I guess is be careful with your data because if you die, some IT guy could find your stash 🤷🏻‍♂️
