What part of mobile development takes way longer than people expect?

There are some parts of building a mobile app that sound simple until you actually have to deal with them. A feature might take a few hours to build, but testing it across different devices and OS versions can take much longer.

I’ve also noticed that small things like permissions, keyboard behavior, background tasks, and app lifecycle can create unexpected problems.

For developers here, what’s one part of mobile development that you think people underestimate the most?

What’s one mobile development problem you didn’t expect to be this annoying?

When I first started paying attention to mobile development, I thought most of the difficult parts would be writing the actual features. But the more I learn, the more it seems like the small details can take just as much time.

Things like handling different screen sizes, background tasks, permissions, app lifecycle changes, or making sure something behaves the same way across devices can become surprisingly tricky.

For developers here, what’s one mobile development problem that looked simple at first but ended up taking way more time than you expected?
