"FREE" Electricity in South Australia
July 1st ... my power supplier has finally released their new plan incorporating 3 free hours of electricity every day.
A brief background ... I have solar panels, around 26KW/hrs of battery storage and a Smart Meter. In Summer I barely need the grid and in winter I can top-up my batteries during the day and/or overnight to avoid paying Peak rates.
My daily charge has already gone up 50% more and to get this "free" electricity I would have to change to a plan where it goes up 100% more. Long story short .... changing to a plan that gives me "free" electricity would cost me more than my costs have gone up already !!!
I haven't calculated the extra cost for non-battery owners but whatever you get for free is likely already offset by the extra you will pay. Don't sign-up blindly.
