Promotion with a salary decrease
I have been offered a promotion from a mid-level civil engineer to senior. Mid-level/current agreement is on the enterprise agreement which is 153k + 13% super (total package $173k).
They presented me the new contract which was $170k including super. It’s not on the EA so I am losing a lot of the perks I currently have like fully paid OT, leave loading etc. My company owns a large asset so we are often required to do on-call duties, work OT etc when needed. This is all expected without any extra payment in the new contract.
They have increased their offer a bit when I explained that I would be getting paid less, but it’s still not really beating my current deal by much when considering OT and on call allowances.
I’m keen to move forward as a senior but can’t help but feel I am being stitched up a bit, and pretty offended they thought I was stupid enough to not realise my new offer was less that I was already making.
Give me your thoughts on my options - do I just suck it up and get on with it?
