I’ve never organized anything like this before, but I’m hoping to reach people who care about protecting access to healthcare and supporting women’s rights.
As a healthcare professional and women’s rights advocate, I’ve become increasingly concerned by the groups that regularly gather outside Planned Parenthood to approach patients and provide unsolicited medical advice. They position themselves near the entrances, speak to people seeking care, and intentionally choose days when they know more patients will be visiting the clinic.
No matter where someone stands on abortion, every person deserves to access healthcare without being pressured, judged, or confronted while walking into a medical appointment.
Because of that, I have decided to begin holding a peaceful presence outside Planned Parenthood every Wednesday. My goal is simple: to help create a welcoming, supportive environment so patients can enter and leave their appointments feeling safe and respected.
I’m hoping to find others who would be willing to join me. Whether you can come regularly or only occasionally, your support would mean a great deal. I know that taking time out of the middle of a weekday is not easy, but even a small group of people can make a meaningful difference.
This is not about arguing with anyone or escalating tensions. It’s about showing compassion, supporting patient autonomy, and ensuring that people can access healthcare without feeling intimidated.

Hi everyone, sorry if this is controversial. I truly don’t mean it to be. I am an advocate for women’s rights and I often pass the Planned Parenthood office on Genesee St. and lately I’ve been getting targeted because the women standing there just recognize me and now consider me and “ally”…. I am not.
Fast forward to today, the security guard told me that the protesters are there every Wednesday because apparently it’s “national abortion day”. The protesters cannot go on the sidewalk but they stand next to a tree on public property.
Here’s my proposition— and I’m willing to make sure this can happen every. single. Wednesday. :
I am going to set up a lemonade stand that will offer free lemonade and/or donations to Planned Parenthood. I will provide the refreshments, the table, or anything else. By doing this, I hope not only will the women stop harassing women walking into the clinic, but it will defeat them and their purpose.
Please let me know if anyone is willing. Also lmk if this is a stupid idea, I’m totally cool with that too.
**PSA: I’m totally cool w ppl coming to just support or working with me. I want to make it clear that we will not be harassing the protesters, just simply taking their spots. HOWEVER, if you’d like to argue your opinion, that’s entirely your CHOICE**
