Can we actually use polaroid to block sound wave(completely block them)
I do know that sound waves can't be polarised, but it actually be blocked when the arrangement of molecules in polaroid are parallel to direction of energy transfer. I think I understand now but I found no source to validate my idea. Here is my thought: 1.Since longitudinal waves travel in one direction compare to transverse waves which is unpolarized, so it can pass through. 2.Because longitudinal waves require matter to transfer so nothing but only vacuum can block it. Hence, it can still pass through polaroid whichever direction we tilt the polaroid.
