What’s up with my white quartz countertop?

I purchased a large double vanity through Costco a couple of years ago, and was very happy with the look and construction of the cabinet itself. However, after installation, I found that the white quartz top that came with it has dull spots in it that don’t wipe off and I recently sat a bottle of Soft Soap hand soap on it while filling a dispenser, and realized a little later that it left a half-moon shaped mark, where the soap appears to have actually etched the polished surface. In addition, in the product niche in my marble shower, we used a piece of white quartz for the shelf at the bottom of the niche. My partner likes to use hand milled bar soap for washing, and even though the bar sits on a plastic stand to dry, it has apparently etched the shelf on that end, so it feels like fine sandpaper. I thought that quartz would be highly durable, so I chose it over marble for those applications. What gives, and what do I do now?!!! The quartz originally had a polished finish.
