Real Estate Agencies in Zagreb: Am I Just Unlucky?
I’ve been living in Zagreb for four years. This is the third time I’ve been looking for an apartment, and, to put it mildly, my experience with local real estate agencies has been disappointing. I’ve contacted around six different agencies, and literally none of them—except one—even bothered to call me back, despite collecting my details.
The only agent who continued communicating with me was from Eurovilla. He told me he had three available options but ended up showing me only one. A couple of days later, he started pressuring me to make a decision. I replied that I’d like to see the other two apartments first, as the one I’d seen wasn’t quite right for several reasons (although, out of necessity, I would have considered it).
About half an hour later, the agent told me he couldn’t get in touch with either of the other two property owners and that I needed to decide on the current apartment, otherwise it would be taken by someone else. I decided to wait for an update on the two other options he had originally offered. The next day, he told me the apartment was no longer available. After that, he seemed to take it personally because he stopped responding altogether.
At this point, my overall experience with real estate agencies in Zagreb has been extremely negative. Have any of you had a positive experience?
P.S. I’m not asking for anything unrealistic, like a palace for next to nothing. I’m simply looking for a reasonable apartment at a reasonable price.
