Lodge cast iron gifted to me this past Christmas. Ive been cooking on it for a while, but I destroyed the seasoning cooking tomatoes and its never been the same since. I seasoned it once a few months ago, it seemed better, but it started getting rusty.

Today I soaked it in 1:1 vinegar/water solution for 30 mins, scrubbed it insane style with salt, and threw it in the over at 500 with a thin coat of canola oil for an hour. This is the result of that, plus a light wash and some more oil as I desperately tried to make it look better. Ill note that it doesnt look THAT red in real life.

Its currently back in the oven at 500 with that new oil after I wiped as much as I could off. Is this the right direction or do I need to do something different??
