Confused on what to make of budgie noises 😅 c
For some context i’m typically home most of the day and I hear all sorts of noises from the happy chitter and chat of a relaxed budgie to squawks of a possibly excited or angry budgie but that’s where the problem lies i am not sure of what to make of some of the noises I hear especially when it’s a loud long session of squawks from the green one yet when I go over to check on her she will often start playing with her favorite toy the bell seen in the video or she will clean herself. While i’m somewhat sure this means she is happy and content and mostly looking for my attention I can’t help but feel slightly concerned every time I hear a squawk or flock call as they sound like distress to me. Was just wondering if anyone could help me decide her body language and as why my other budgie is almost completely quiet the green one known as burger is chatting up storms all day until nap time or bed time while on the contrary taco the blue bird is separate in a different smaller cage until Saturday when her new cage arrives i’m worried for her as-well but more specifically because we got her from my moms friend who didn’t treat her the best, she had grabbed her while she was distressed and kept in a very small cage for a budgie. Taco is known to be aggressive and territorial which is why I had to separate them when taco lunged at burger but taco is so hand shy it’s crazy anytime my hand even touches her door she freaks out very tight feathers slicked back and locked eyes on my hand and if I put it in for example to clean/refill food or water, she will fly to the other side while almost always sitting on the wall in fear i’m wondering what I can do to make her enjoy my hand more to a point where I can maintenance her cage without her freaking out similar to how burger is but I have no idea where to start i’ve had them for less than a month and these are my first birds ever and have never had any animals outside of the typical lizards, dogs, or cats I would like for them to be nothing but happy but don’t know if i’m doing a good job. Both birds consistently love to listen to my voice and like my presence outside their cage but only my voice and nothing else again wondering if I can get tips, help, or some corrections on what I can do, I spend multiple chunks of 15 to 30 minutes with them per day they seem to relax when I sit near them but when I go to do my school work at my desk it’s mostly flock calls and flock call mixed with squawking and was wondering if that’s just normal budgie chatter? appreciate anybody who reads and greatly appreciate if I can get some confirmation whether i’m doing something wrong or should change something from how I do it.🙂
