Man, this is it, isn’t it?

Kinosaki’s about to pull the whole
Yeah, I’ve been lying to you from the very beginning.
What do you think, Gero-kun?
I was your enemy all along.
type of betrayal.

Except he’s actually lying to himself like crazy, and he’ll be standing in Gero’s way, saying things he doesn’t even mean, after going through an absolutely brutal amount of inner conflict and ripping his own heart apart over it.

I’m gonna eat my phone on Tuesday night when that chapter drops.

And if the next update ends up being two weeks after that, I genuinely don’t know if I’ll still be recognizable as a human being.

ABOUT THAT KISS

I’d like to hear from the people who think that Gero was trying to kiss Kinosaki. What makes you see it that way?

I really, really mean this when I say this: I’m not criticizing that interpretation at all. If anything, as a Gerosaki shipper, I’d be thrilled if that really was what was happening.

It’s just that no matter how many times I go back and look at that legendary scene, I don’t see it as a clear depiction of Gero trying to move things toward a kiss.

Kinosaki wakes up, Gero gets startled, loses his balance, and ends up falling over him, right? From there, though, wasn’t Gero actually not moving his face any closer…???

I understand that Ch. 82, Ch. 88, Ch. 100, etc. show Kinosaki putting up a wall between himself and Gero. So I’ve wondered if this could also be one of those cases where Gero wasn’t trying to kiss him at all, and Kinosaki was simply the one putting up that boundary.

And Gero is shy and a cherry boy, too. (Especially at this point in the story.) Even if he accidentally ended up on top of someone, and even if that someone happened to be an absolutely gorgeous person, Gero just doesn’t strike me as the kind of character who would make a move toward a kiss in that situation.

I’ve seen people point out that Gero’s face is actually closer in the panel where Kinosaki stops him with his finger than it is in the panel where Gero first ends up on top of him… but even that just seems like a small difference in the manga’s staging/artwork to me. I don’t feel like it’s enough to clearly say that Gero was trying to kiss him.

That said, there’s one thing I really don’t want to be misunderstood on.

There are plenty of scenes in Ch. 88, Ch. 131, etc. where Gero seems to be conscious of Kinosaki in that sense, so I’m not trying to deny the possibility that Gero might have romantic feelings for Kinosaki.

I’m just saying that I don’t think the thing in Ch. 77 necessarily falls into that category.

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time whenever I see people treat “Gero was trying to kiss Kinosaki” as a given, so I figured I’d finally put my perspective out there today.

If there’s anything I’m overlooking in this interpretation, or anything about it that you think can be disproved, I’d genuinely like to hear it.

And again, I’m a Gerosaki shipper too. If Gero really was trying to kiss Kinosaki there, I’d be just as happy about it.

This shot of his back, and that silence... What does it mean?

At first, I was paying attention to the panel where Gero has wide eyes without his mouth being shown,

but I just noticed this shot of his back.

What does this silence mean? What is his expression? Normally, when he’s flustered or troubled, they draw sweat drops, but there aren't any here.

What’s next for Kinosaki after the latest chapter?

(Ch.174 spoilers!)

"While rescuing the girls, we jump into Kinosaki’s backstory. Nasu holds Kinosaki’s life in the balance, putting them in a pinch, but Gero pulls off a decisive rescue. Nasu and the grandmother get punished, and Gero and Kinosaki redo the proposal from Chapter 1 for a happy ending~!"

I feel like this structure was pretty much what we all expected—almost common knowledge at this point.
But lately, I've started feeling like something's off.
Back in Chapter 128, Gero showed genuine killer intent with his line, "Dare lay a hand on Kinosaki, even as a joke, and I swear you'll see me bare my fangs."
I fully thought this scene was a metaphor/foreshadowing for a future where Kinosaki gets targeted by the Gero family, sparking a full-blown war.
Yet here we are, already heading into a full-blown war just to rescue the captive girls.

I mean, don't get me wrong.
Given the current situation, this is a completely natural direction, and maybe it's just my poor brain overthinking a line from Ch. 128 that wasn't actually a metaphor.

It's just... after reading the latest chapter, I started worrying: all those hints pointing toward Gerosaki and the foreshadowing around Kinosaki's past won't just get left vague or glossed over, right...?

So I want to hear everyone’s theories on Kinosaki’s survival and backstory, based on the latest chapter.
Whether it's a super detailed, long-winded theory or just a random thought, anything works—I'd love to get a fresh perspective!

Is the Season 1 ED pure foreshadowing?

Knowing the manga, this is honestly creepy/terrifying to watch.

  • Kinosaki lying down, clutching a box filled with cool (or memorable) scenes of Gero
  • The focus on Kinosaki’s left chest
  • An electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Gears

Is jmyk really messing with my emotions here too?!

The most reliable Gerosaki moments or information?

Latest Chapter Spoilers Below

Since I’ve read up to the latest chapter of the manga, I’ve seen more than enough depictions hinting at a Gerosaki endgame.

But I'm just... worried that the author will suddenly turn around and stab me in the gut.

A Gerosaki endgame from a commercial perspective... I'm honestly scared

Getting into this manga was my first real introduction to the world of "Shonen" and "Jump" manga.
After reading various community discussions, I realized that the general audience is surprisingly conservative.
I’m anxious that the editorial team might reject a same-sex ending in order to protect the brand and satisfy the broader Shonen reader base.

Am I in the minority for wanting Gerosaki to be endgame?

I’ve been checking a lot of MarriageToxin theories and discussions recently.

I was under the impression that most people wanted Gerosaki to be endgame, but to my surprise, I’ve been coming across some negative or critical comments lately.

Is wanting Gerosaki to be endgame actually a minority opinion?

What makes you believe Gerosaki is endgame?

I’ve read the original manga up to the latest chapter.

I’m also hoping for a Gerosaki endgame, but reading all the different theories recently has made me feel a bit anxious.

A question for those who support the 'Heart Transplant' theory

(English isn't my first language. Please forgive any unintended harshness in my tone; I have great respect for this community.)

I have a question for those who subscribe to the theory that Kinosaki received a heart transplant. I want to clarify the timeline and the details based on the current chapters.

First, regarding Octo’s medical expenses: Does this imply that Octo underwent a major surgery?

If so, many people seem to believe that:

〈Kinosaki gave his healthy heart to Octo.〉
〈Nasu provided an artificial heart to Kinosaki.〉

However, there are a few points that bother me.
As shown in Chapter 1, it was Gero who paid for Octo’s medical expenses:

The Knowledge Gap:
If those expenses covered a major heart transplant surgery, shouldn't Gero have known about such a procedure?

The Timeline:
If the surgery was covered by those expenses, when and where could they have performed such a large-scale operation after Kinosaki met Gero?

This theory often assumes that "Nasu demanded Kinosaki to bring him six fiancées for Gero in exchange for providing the artificial heart."

If that were the case, the sequence would be:

  1. Gero pays for Octo’s medical expenses/surgery.
  2. Nasu performs the surgery, which is a heart transplant.

This makes it look like Nasu got involved after Gero started paying. However, most theories suggest that Nasu had been involved with Kinosaki long before Chapter 1, which creates a contradiction.
By the time Kinosaki was in the "Human Zoo," his fate was essentially already under Nasu's control. Even the circumstances of how he was able to leave the Human Zoo are a mystery.

Is it possible that:

〈Octo’s condition worsened while in the Human Zoo?
Kinosaki begged Nasu to let Octo receive treatment?
Nasu then demanded, "Go and get me six fiancées for Gero"?〉

Did Nasu say something like, "I will use the guarantee of Octo’s medical expenses as proof that you have successfully made contact with Gero," and the surgery happened only after that?

Regardless, there are still many questions left, such as when such a large-scale surgery could have occurred within the canon, or why Kinosaki had to keep working as a marriage fraudster if the deal was already made. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on how this fits the established timeline.

Tell me your theories on how to reach a "Gerosaki" endgame.

I've been thinking about this too much lately, and now I'm starting to lose confidence that they will actually end up together. Most of all, I'm terrified of a "death" ending.

I want to know your theories on how the story can reach a Gerosaki endgame. Please feel free to write as much as you want.
