Newbie, first fall season
Hey there! We are newer to hockey, my son (6M) got on skates for the first time in December, and gosh darn it he is so good! We are trying to pick a club for fall... There are two in our town -- we did a 6U spring team with the little guys and and we're in the "elite" club's summer camp right now. The elite one is massively more organized (and he likes their mascot). Help me decide between 3 options >>
> 6U semi-travel, less organized, hometown team that he played with this spring for $850. Effing volunteer requirements might make me insane.
> Mite house league for the elite club for $900 -- assuming coaching is as organized as the camp has been.. that could be a step up.
> Send him to travel team tryouts for the elite club even though he's only 6 and a new player. I am told the camp is usually travel kids and he can hold his own against a few of them. It's effing $2700. Which we can technically afford.
Considering he'll be a mite for 3 years is it worth going in guns blazing now? Or take it slow... do the 6U team this year with his buddies and then switch over to the elite club next year?
So confused and early registration is closing soon!
