Hives don't want sugar syrup
I send this question to the collective for ideas. This time previous years, my bees would take sugar syrup as fast as I could refill it. Starting last fall and through this spring they barely want to even look at it.
This resulted in 1 hive having slightly less stores that id have liked and sadly they didn't survive the winter. My remaining hives are dangerously low, but still not showing any interest in the syrup.
At this weeks inspection I did see a little bit of new nectar stored, but not very much.
So is this a case of the bees know best and let them do their thing? Or is there something I can do or add to the syrup to help encourage them to use it?
