First photo of the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101) with the Dwarf Mini, how is it?

I recently got a dwarf mini and I’ve been testing it out a bit, but I have to say it’s been quite difficult to find targets in the sky, and many days have been cloudy as well.

im in central London, bortle 8, and im in a pretty small flat so I honestly don’t have that much sky space at all, and I was so happy when I realised the pinwheel galaxy was in the small gap that I have tonight.

i used 30 second exposures with 70 gain and about 35 mins intergration time, I wouldve liked much longer but there were too many objects that would have gotten in the way.

i haven’t tried to edit in Siril yet but I think I will try to process this image through siril, as both these photos have only gone throigh stellar studio and through the iPhone photo editing.

how are they? any tips for the future?

thanks!

Best workflow for editing dwarf mini photos with Siril and Graxpert?

I’m a beginner to astrophotography and I’m beginning to understand the dwarf mini and I’ve started trying to edit photos with astrofinish and relatively simple parameters.

However, I would really like to start using siril and graxpert or other softwares to edit the photos and get the most out of them. I have watched a few tutorials on how to edit and i think I know some of the basics, but I wanted some help on what my general workflow should be?

I’ve heard that graxpert is good for background extraction and denoising, but I’m not really sure which way I should complete these steps and whether i use graxpert or Siril first as I have seen lots of mixed ideas.

any help would be really appreciated!! Thanks

What mobile astronomy app should I use for my dwarf mini.

I’m thinking of buying the upgraded version of either Stellarium or Sky tonight. it’s around £15 - £20, which one is more worth it and the better app overall?

thanks

Best ways to process photos?

i got a dwarf mini recently and I’ve been enjoying taking some pics of a couple galaxies and star clusters

at the moment I’ve just been using the stellar studio which has been perfectly good for me. however, I heard that stacking apps are significantly better like siril / sequator?

i honestly don’t have any experience with stacking or photo editing so would it be worth me trying to learn this or should I just stick to stellar studio or editijg apps on my phone, like Astro shader and Astro finish?

thanks for the help

Any simple way to rotate dwarf mini images?

I saw on the seestar app that you can rotate the capture frame before taking photos, however this doesn’t seem possible in the dwarf lab app.

is there any way I can easily rotate the frame to get certain objects into the frame? thanks

im going into year 12 next year and I have picked my a levels as French, maths, geography, economics. I was thinking of picking physics and I can still change to it, but I am not super keen on the engineering/mechanics side of it, but I find the astrophysics side of it really interesting.

i found there to be jobs as ‘space analysts’ where it seems physics may not be necessary, and seems very interesting to me. Some say geography is also useful for this as well as maths.

i honestly an not sure what to do as I would love to work in some sector to do with space and astronomy, but maybe not on the physics heavy side but more on the geography side if that is something?

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I didn’t have many options this evening of things to capture so I decided on M109.

it is basically vertical in the sky and I started capturing but I began to get these weird artifacts/glitches in the corners of the photo.

is this fixed once the capture is complete? Or is this just a general problem because im capturing near the zenith

thanks for any help
