I find a lot of “skin but better”/molecular/musk fragrances pleasing an unobtrusive—easy every day wears, so it makes sense why they’re a quiet luxury type trend. I also get the cynicism towards them, that they are anti-perfumery etc.

That said, I am looking for some fragrances which are musky and subtle/natural which have a traditionally masculine (or unisex) lean, as I find many to be too floral or too sweet for me.

So far my favorite find has been Gaiac 10 which is does a nice job of combining musk molecules with woods and a bit of smoke. I also like Another 13, and I’m open to recs which aren’t really purely musks but are natural smelling and subtle enough to feel like second skin (eg CdG Wonderwood).
