I understand the idea of airbrushing himself out and returning the photo, but after it was botched on the first attempt why not just leave it be? Like not even attempt to return the photo at all. It may have been a while before Krueger noticed it was gone and then it would have seemed lost or stolen. Certainly no way to trace it back to Costanza. All efforts to replace it only complicates the whole situation.
