I got a good deal on 2 plum trees-one Morris and one Santa Rosa. I live in north Georgia zone 8a. Soil here tends to be heavy clay, so it is always amended a little before I plant. Would these best be plant now or wait until they go dormant? They will have to be moved either way because unfortunately they are in 1 gallon pots and need some room. So either go ahead and put in the ground or move to much bigger pot? I want to give them the best chance to survive.
