dawn
he crawls and growls
at the cheap white door
screwed shut to protect
young soft flesh.
as it goes, he phases through by no divine fault,
yellow feline eyes pierce nightshade mist.
your irises engulf into your scleral,
veins swell beneath your leather,
as his grinds dirt between soft tissue
the man of honor—
who will believe the monster he becomes
when moonlight cracks his head in two?
who will give a beloved beast
the consequence it deserves?
when you wake in the morning, forget any desire
of being sun-kissed. Carry the tired babe to the tub
prone to clog from cells scraped off your skin,
during odd hours at night, armed with cold silver spoons.
when moonlight remorsefully kisses your forehead,
bathe the babe in her father’s toxins, mundane poison,
rotten eggs uncracked.
