Cops and one crook minifigure pack, and "M8" identification tips.
Everybody with a City build needs cops, right? No matter how orderly we'd like our miniature worlds, greed and crime sometimes creep in.
I'd held off for a long time on a purchase of cop figures. There was always the "M8" figures, sold in bulk packs that look compatible, but the torsos and the legs are not. They have a single peg, and not the double peg that LEGO-compatible figs have. "M8" figs can only be swapped among themselves.
While I had excess shopping credits, this appeared in my feed. A small 4-pack of 3 cops and one crook. I didn't want "M8", but these looked like standard figs. So I took a chance.
And I was right... these are standard figs. Nice printing, nice detailing, feels like modern figs with the current quality of plastics.
My only gripes:
- Cops hats fit a little loose. Fixed with nail polish and applied with a toothpick.
- Cops are not armed. But I have Skibidis with too much firepower, so they'll have to donate their weaponry.
Otherwise, I am pleased with these figs.
I have one "M8" cop from a previous set, and I think I figured out how to crack the code. If you see a fig, or a bulk pack... are they "M8"?
The answer is in the torso shape. See the photos. "M8" has a narrower torso that's flush with the legs/hips. LEGO-compatible has a slight overhang... a muffin top, like everybody is packing a few extra pounds.
So if vendor photos are accurate, this could help in not buying "M8", if you don't want them!
