Hello Everyone,

I have a male labrador, 4 years old, he is a late bloomer, recently getting effected by the females on heat, he started pooping 5-6 times a day, did a stool test, all normal, did blood tests just to be sure (doctor said it is normal when females are on heat), all normal except for the heart.

The NT-pro BNP test which is a marker for cardiac stress. The value came back to 1535, which signifies high heart stress and potential heart disease.

The doctor said to do Ultrasound and X-ray of the heart, just to be sure.

My dog is very friendly and excited even when he meets anyone, even while getting an injection at the vet, he runs around and plays with the vet and their team, as per the vet, this could also be a reason for the high value.

Next week is the ultrasound, I was searching the reasons and found that food could also be one of the factors, from puppy stage he ate Royal Canin and now from last year, he is eating Wolfsblut. We live in Germany. Me and him are from India, moved here 2 years ago and I believe he is not a purebred. He is around 34kgs and doctor said that his weight is perfect.

Coming back to food, as per all the AI's, Wolfsblut has good meat percent but lacks grain and other things to complete the food, so its best to switch to Royal Canin or Purina Pro Plan or Hills Science diet.

I just wanted an opion if anyone has gone through similar problems. As per vet, I spoke to 3-4 here, any food available here in Germany is good, so very confused what to do.

Sorry if the information is all over the place, I have no experience in creating a post.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Have a nice one.
