How should I approach the market to maximize my chances of landing a job?
Hello all,
I am planning for my Automotive Msc in UK (Coventry University) this September. I come from India with a mechanical Btech degree n 2.5 yrs of work experience. The job market is not exactly very great in current times.
As for my background, I have multiple internship experiences during my Btech degree building machines and systems in various domains. I have an year of work experience as design engineer in Jaguar Land Rover. Then I left JLR to start a company as a co-founder. After an year n half, now I want to move on and am going to do my Msc.
Now, I want to maximize my chances of landing a job or atleast an internship by the end of my course. Here are few ways I'm trying to find some potential contacts n required skills.
Checking out the job listings in indeed, reeds and other sites to look at posted jobs. Compiling the list of skills required and am comparing and am filling the gaps.
Doing an academic course now which i would be doing during my study. Since I got free time, I want to utilise it effectively now. So i would get time then during my course where stakes are high and I can then put that time for a good use.
I would like to ask you all, How to find potential contacts to land a job? And few more questions.
How should I go about finding a potential job roles and asking them for internships or an opportunity ?
Would my experience from India, as a design engineer and a Co founder be valid? I gained some huge experience in project planning, team management n other management skills?
What other soft skills should I be working on? Tho I got 8 IELTS, I know for sure that I have to develop my communication skills a lot.
What's the best way to go about it? Once I'm in UK and now when I'm in India.
Where to socialize? How to meet people in general regarding to my profession as well as others? I would really like to become a part of the place. Not just be as superficial person.
How can university help me with all this? How should I be planning n splitting an year of my course ? Any tips n pointers i should be following during this time ?
I would really appreciate any tips n pointers regarding this matter.
Thanks
