Hi all! Just got out of an orthopedic appointment with a new doctor and he is recommending PRP injection into my disc(s) ( will know exactly after my fresh MRI). I had cortisone shots in my back in 2019 for disc herniation and also did several months of PT. I was relatively pain free other than minor flareups until about the past year. I moved into a new place and a buddy and I did the entire move, and subsequently had a bad flare up. I took meloxicam for about a week along with moves I learned in PT and I ended up recovering to about 90%. Then about 6 months later we have a few heavy snow storms- I shoveled us out but threw my back out again…again same routine and after a couple of weeks I was up and at it.

Now two Thursday’s ago, back randomly starting locking up, went for the meloxicam and PT moves, except Friday morning I ended up getting pain so bad (spasms included this time) that it took me to my knees in my bathroom and I was stuck there for a couple hr. Went on prednisone, flexiril, and meloxicam and by end of steroid pack (and PT moves as soon as I could start moving with spasms) I started to improve. I would say I’m about 60% now. I am attaching my MRI from 2019 and will have a fresh one by week end.

My question is…who has had PRP direct into disc, and what were your results? New Doc was VERY against cortisone and in favor of PRP.
