There's a lot of doomposting going on about the Kagurabachi fanbase becoming compromised by the potential influx of new fans both from the anime announcement, and from its eventual drop in April.
I see some people talking about Larpers or this or that or whatever, and honestly I feel kind of sad because the last thing this community needs is to become super clique-y.
I am sure some of you share this sentiment, but one of the things I have loved about this community is its oppenness and laid back vibes. I understand that an inundation of new people could potentially mess with that, but one surefire way to guarantee the vibe around here will change is being super critical of those who come to the community post-anime. It's not necessarily an us vs. them situation.
And I do get it - I am also worried about the well being poisoned to some extent, and I know that anime grifters will be flocking to Kagurabachi as it becomes ever more popular (it's already happening).
But desipte that, I really don't see it as an us vs. them situation. I think everyone wins - we win by having our favorite manga get a successful adaptation, and new fans win by discovering the peak that is Hokazono's writing and world. We all win. The only way we lose is to divide the fanbase between "real fans" and supposed "larpers".
I don't know. I don't mean to get on a soapbox or anything, but seeing so many posts today of people being all "it's so over" about it makes me sad. I could totally be being naive or overly optismistic, but I want to think that if we continue to give out positive vibes, and we continue to be open and chill, that'll be the vibe no matter what.
If we perpetuate groupthink and us vs. them mentalities, that's what'll prevail. And in that case, nobody wins, and the community suffers for it.
Don't be like Samura! We shouldn't fulfill our own prophecy!
P.S. I also know that it is satisfying to have been here befoer the anime announcement! I myself have been here since the Rakuzaichi and have looked forward to each and every Bachi Sunday. It feels good to be part of something and to see it succeed while you're a part of it - but there's no superiority to that! Everyone who comes to enjoy Bachi is on the same level, cool as it may be to have gotten in on the ground floor. In the end, the elevator is still only going up!
