Question: Advice me on Grappling vs Striking training split for first few years.
Hello. I have the project of becoming moderately proficient at MMA in ~5 years.
Currently I have been doing BJJ for 6 months, also did Muay Thai 2 months at the start.
With work commitments, being over 30, and planning to do S&C in gym twice weekly, I can only afford to train BJJ/Muay Thai/MMA 3x per week in total.
So my question is - Will I be a better fighter MMA at the end of my project if I train:
Option A)
- 2 years of 3x/week BJJ
- 2 years of 2x/week Muay Thai + 1x/week BJJ
- 1 year of 1x/week Muay Thai + 1x/week BJJ + 1x/week MMA
Option B)
- 2 years of 2x/week BJJ + 1x/week Muay Thai
- 2 years of 2x/week Muay Thai + 1x/week BJJ
- 1 year of 1x/week Muay Thai + 1x/week BJJ + 1x/week MMA
Option C)
- 2 years of 2x/week BJJ + 1x/week Muay Thai
- 3 years of 1x/week Muay Thai + 1x/week BJJ + 1x/week MMA
I also welcome any other advice you can give me about how to mix in the various classes throughout my development. Thank you.
