So frustrated
Hoping the hive mind can help me with this! We rent our home and our outdoor spigot is this ancient sun-cracked Arrowhead unit. Works fine, but this week the piece that connects it to our garden hose wore out and I was soaked after trying to turn it on, it was clearly faulty and leaking. There was a washer in it (looked surprisingly fine), it just fell out before I took the picture. The piece is old and corroded but I am able to see it’s also an Arrowhead product (ABP USA), it also says “anti-siphon” and MAYBE P NO 847, but it’s very scratched and hard to tell, so I could be wrong. When I try to find a replacement for this using that part number, the only parts that continuously come up are something that looks nothing like it or the new one pictured (vacuum breaker). I spoke with someone at Home Depot and Lowe’s while showing them the old part and they both told me to get the vacuum breaker. I was skeptical because the pieces had a tiny step-off from each other in diameter (old one slightly wider than new) but they both told me it would be fine. Well it wasn’t fine and won’t fit, it’s too small for the spigot. I can’t connect my hose directly to the spigot because the spigot is apparently not a standard size, and I can’t reconnect the anti-siphon thingy because it doesn’t work. I have a lot of vegetables that need watering so I was hoping I had bought the solution today. Can anyone help point me in the right direction of how I can replace this part? Since we rent, we want to replace it with something that will offer similar protection to the water supply, but we’re lost. If the above isn’t enough of an indication, I don’t know anything about plumbing lol. Happy to provide more details if it would help!
