hey... first time poster here...
I wanted to share something I've been building — a fully offline AI assistant designed specifically for preppers and off-grid living who use Macs. It's called JIC-Prepper-AI (Just In Case)
What it does:
- Searches 200+ offline knowledge libraries (Wikipedia, Gutenberg, Canadian Prepper, Appropedia and more) using AI
- Organizes your prepper videos into color-coded categories
- Lets you upload survival PDFs and guides — then ask AI questions about them
- Manages your entire ZIM file library
- Works 100% offline — grid down, no problem
What it runs on:
- Kiwix (offline knowledge library)
- Ollama (local AI — llama3)
- Qdrant (semantic search)
- One Python file — no complicated setup
It's free and open source: github.com/duescobar08-png/JIC-Prepper-AI
i know that Project Nomad exists... but, i discovered that one after i had started building this... i think that one is built for Windows/PCs...please correct me if i'm wrong...
either way, i would love feedback from the community — especially suggestions for survival sites worth capturing as ZIM files! Just staying prepared...
thanks in advance!
