***EDIT: I fixed it. I mean, it kinda just started working after all the swabbing and smacking and laying it on it's side turning it on and off. Very odd process.***

I have this digital 8 camcorder that I'm trying to use to digitize old family tapes. It turns on fine and takes the tape but once loaded the monitor shows some variation of a C:31 error code (which google says indicates a mechanical fault in the tape deck).

Any online forum or reddit post I've read about this says to either smack the device until the code goes away or to cotton swab the captan motor with isopropyl alcohol. Suffice it to say, I have smacked the damn thing and swabbed it up, no change.

Anyone see anything wrong in these pictures or have any other advice?
