I found Whiplash to have a lot of similar philosophy on the “hustle to achieve your dreams” mindset we see here in Marty Supreme. I reference Josh Safdie and contrast these films in ways they align. Take the fact that each character has a niche obsessive “dream” that most of society writes off as an example. How each character cares about their girlfriends less the stronger their passion for their dreams becomes is another example.

Additionally, how each character pushes back against people who don’t believe in their dreams. I contrast this aspect of these films through the dinner scene in whiplash and the hotel scene after Marty had hooked up with the wealthy women.
