We have had this big discussion with my D&D party about the command spell and I would like some more output from the community.

I used the command spell to make an NPC walk of a ship and fall in calm water during combat.

According to some people in the party, because the NPC was wearing heavy armor they could not swim so this is a directly damaging command and thus should be ignored, but according to RAW heavy armor does not make a character unable to swim or even sink. It CAN lower the movement speed (both on foot and swimming) if the strength is bellow the requirement.

So, was this a correct use of a spell, or must it have failed?

Edit: the good people in this sub have informed me that I am using the incorrect spell and that the 5.5e version of that spell completely eliminates the "harmful" requirement. So the question is already solved.
