Refused Service to Client as Dog Needed Medical Attention
Bare with me cause this will be a bit long winded and Im still coming down from the adrenaline of the interaction.
Had a client dropping off their dog, intact male, and a small brachycephalic breed. When handing over the dog I noticed that his red rocket was out and the size of a golf ball(no joke). Owner tells me they just push it back in, then proceeds to try pushing it back in while Im holding the dog. Rightfully so the dog starts freaking out in pain cause it quite literally cant go back in. They would not listen when I told them to stop and kept going when I tried backing up multiple times. Even when I told them he needs to see a vet many times, they argued saying it was fine. Eventually got them to back off, letting them know we wont be grooming the dog till it sees a vet. Said that they think we're wrong, called us a C U Next Time and left stating they wont come back.
From what Ive found on various websites its called a paraphimosis and can spell bad news if left untreated. This was a super disheartening encounter to have that I wanted to share. If there were ways I could have handled it differently? Im not sure.
(I did not groom the dog as this all happened at drop off, he is barred from having appointments in the future as well)
