Nondisplaced avulsion fracture of medial malleolus.

About 2 months ago I fell down some stairs and injured my ankle. I had X-rays done and was told I had an avulsion fracture of the medial malleolus along with a pretty bad medial ankle sprain. I was told to walk on it in a boot for a week and then let it be. It’s now been two months and my ankle still feels a bit painful and “wrong,” especially with certain movements. I was wondering if anyone has opinions on what could potentially still be injured or causing ongoing pain. I do have an appointment with an orthopedist coming up soon, but I’m curious if anyone has had a similar experience or any thoughts in the meantime.
