Calc needs a modern Formula Autocomplete! 📊 I just filed an Enhancement Request on Bugzilla, and I need your help to get the devs' attention!
Hey everyone,
Don't get me wrong, I love LibreOffice Calc and use it daily. But let's be honest about one specific thing that drives keyboard power-users crazy: Formula Autoinput & Autocomplete.
If you've ever used Google Sheets or Excel, you know how smooth it is: you type =IF, a beautiful vertical dropdown appears, you navigate with the Arrow Keys, hit Tab, and boom—it's autocompleted.
In Calc?
- We get a rigid, horizontal black line.
- If there are too many functions, it just says "+1 more" (hidden away).
- If you dare to press the Down Arrow to select a function, it literally moves the selection to the next row and breaks your formula!
- On top of that, the syntax/help hint font is tiny and hard to read on modern high-res displays.
I think it's time Calc's formula workflow got a modern UX/UI overhaul.
I just submitted a formal Request for Enhancement (RFE) on LibreOffice Bugzilla to address this and propose a clean, scrollable vertical dropdown with proper keyboard navigation and modern styling.
🚀 How you can help:
