Am i doing right?

I don't know if this is the right place, but my roommate took in an abandoned kitten recently and while i consider it irresponsible he has become solid about it. However he went to the hospital and will likely stay for a while due to his health, which leaves me taking care of the baby. She (i think) is roughly 2-3 weeks old from what I can tell, and I'm feeding her with formula every 3-4 hours. I've raised plenty of cats before but never without a mama, so I'm just worried that the time I'll have her i will make a mistake. I stimulate her to potty every feeding but i worry she might not be going enough? I know impactions and improper pottying can cause issues. Oh and also i am terrible with feeding her so she gets very messy by the end of it, and while im pretty sure she's getting enough in her belly, her fur is getting kinda crusty from the excess formula. Any advice would be greatly appricated until my roommate gets back and i can discuss whats best for the kitten with him.
