Is it common for everyone to look back and still not feel as accomplished months later or not feel like what you did was special. I summited my dream peak a month ago and just want a bigger objective now and feel like it’s hard to believe it’s already over.
19 wanting to go into more high altitude climbs and looking at Huanya Potosi or going to Ecuador for Cotopaxi+Cayambe. Any reccs or suggestions.
I’ve done C2C on 4 of 5 wa volcanoes this summer and wanted some more Oregon summits. How tasking is broken top and middle sister in August? Is the scree unbearable or even manageable that late or any other suggestions?
I’ve done all other 4 WA main volcanoes C2C this summer including rainier and we saved Gp for last. It’s gonna be nasty and brutal but any tips?
I’m 19 and completed rainier c2c, baker c2c and Adams c2c this summer. I’m trying to get over my fear of heights and start scrambling! I’ve done Mount si haystack before and was thinking of Kaleetan peak. Is it a good jump or any other reccomendations to ease me in?
Going for the first time this Monday and I know the river crossing at the start can suck to find the proper log. Is it obv or any advice of a kinda direction of the easiest crossing?
Forgive my complete ignorance but why do I see a lot of high high level 8k meter climbers sometimes have semi auto crampons on full auto capable boots? Is it up to preference or circumstance
I did baker c2c in a blizzard, Adams C2C and Rainier C2C at 19 on my first mountaineering season this year all unguided. Rainier felt amazing and no altitude affected me. My group wants to keep pushing high altitude and were wondering how massive the jump is in technicality outside of the altitude factor on cayambe and Cotopaxi
I’m 19 trying to go into high alt stuff and I haven’t done anything insane yet just rainier C2C, Adams C2C and baker C2C. Any ideas on what kinda stuff next? I want high glacier travel which can be harder to find here. There’s definitely low altitude options to hone skills but
Everyone told me it would be so miserable car to car and the worst experience ever. Let me tell you, I summited no problem but the way down might’ve been the longest thing I’ve seen in my life and don’t get me started on the cleaver
Am I crazy for wanting to do rainier dc route C2C rather than camp? I hate carrying a pack and did baker C2C in a blizzard and Adam’s c2C with almost 0 issue and felt perfectly fine. Been to Muir a ton and my group has done up to 12 on rainier and turned to bad bad conditions. Thoughts or advice?
Has anyone else had a rlly bad reaction to MRE on the mountain? Switching to ramen and other things fs but every time I have one my stomach flips
Physically I feel amazing conditioned and trained so hard for this season. My rope and glacier travel reached and everything is dialed. This is all I’ve been able to tag this year so far since April and I have an opportunity to do Shasta exactly 1 week before rainier but tbh I’m worried I won’t recover in time or if it’s even necessary. Maybe someone can chime in so I don’t go to Shasta just cuz of fomo and ik no summits are guranteed it’s all just an idea
I know everyone’s body is different and everything but I’m going to 14k for the first time on Mount Shasta after summiting Mount Adams last week. I’m worried I’ll feel rlly ill but my training has been hard and I’m curious at what point do you know you NEED to turn around. Some people have said they throw up and even keep going and I don’t wanna turn around for a damn headaches. Thought?
I’m wondering if anyone has tips for Shasta via avalanche gulch. It’ll be my first time up to 12k+ so I’m worried about the altitude as it’s my prep for rainier. Physically I’m ready but more so any tips for the altitude or route.
1x Baker C2C
1x Hood
2x Helen’s
Mount Adams C2C this week
Just got off Helen’s, hood, baker C2C and Adam’s this week all with 2-3 months and now jumping to Shasta before Rainer to see how my body does at altitude. Any tips for the route or what to expect? Taking avalanche gulch and sleeping at Helen lake.
First summit did C2C baker 06/05 in whiteout conditions dumping snow! Super sick experience and were the first to summit at 5AM.
