Shin's portrayal
Now I know a post like this has probably been made 100 times already but honestly what is Hara doing with Shin? I'm re-reading the WZI arc and it's honestly hard to see him being so surprised all the time.
He's just always on the backend when it comes to anything that deals with knowledge of warfare, now ofc Shin has a slave background so no one is expecting him to start strategizing like Ousen or Kanki. but even basic understanding of tactics would help him, but no we get 5 "Huh's" and 10 pounds of sweat every time they're in a war meeting.
Hara's best move was introducing the concept of instinctual generals because it gave Shin a way to shine without having to be this world class strategist, but he's only used it like 3 times in over 500+ chapters after it was introduced.
Now all this would be fine if Shin was still young and had time to grow but he's almost 30 and he's just embarrassing when compared to his peers. Ouhon, Mouten and Kyoukai(maybe) are all currently capable of leading a full-scale army into war without relying on someone to give commands, but I can't say the same for Shin. then to make it worse both Ouhon and Kyoukai are more or less equal to him in combat ability which is his only general level quality at the moment.
After 15 years of experience in war I just feel like Hara should be portraying Shin's competence a little bit better on the battlefield.
